VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATE ANNUAL AWARDS ALONG WITH
THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE
On Tuesday 7th June 2022, volunteers from St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals celebrated volunteer week. The idea originated from the U.S.A. when the then President, Richard Nixon, established this, with an executive order, in 1974. The awards were implemented in the UK in 1974, giving the country a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make to our communities and to say 'Thank You'. This year, the celebration also coincided with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration.
The event was attended by Whiston Town Mayor, Councillor Marianne Burke-Thompson and Ann Marr OBE, Chief Executive, St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals. Over twenty volunteers attended the event. They were awarded a badge and certificate in recognition of their commitment to volunteering which, undoubtedly, makes a huge difference to the lives of people using the hospitals.
A big 'Thank You' to all involved.
