In 2006 the Centre was re-named The George Howard Centre, Lickers Lane. George Howard had served for many years on behalf of the residents of Whiston, as a Whiston Councillor and a Knowsley Borough Councillor. Lickers Lane Community Centre was originally opened on the 17th March 1979, by Councillor Barry Leach, the Chairman of Whiston Town Council for that year.
The Centre is used, on a regular basis, by local clubs and community groups. With a variety of room sizes available, including two halls, it can be hired out by large and small groups for a variety of purposes including childrens parties, training days, meetings and other gatherings.
